Cheating case

One Aldrin Syiem of Mawlai Nongkwar, Shillong lodged a complaint at Mawlai police station that on January 30, he transferred Rs. 1,00,290 to the account of Rampurush Pandit at SBI Amingaon Branch, Guwahati, Assam for supplying mineral waters. However, the complainant has not received the goods till date.

Dacoity

On April 14 at around 3.45 pm, acting on inputs that a mixed gang of dacoits were proceeding towards Mawsynram, Police conducted vehicle checking at Mawngap in East Khasi Hills, and intercepted five persons Newman Kharbani (30), Raju Singh (19), Bharat Roy (21), Sanjay Krishna Gowala (18) and Monu Singh (23) from a local taxi (ML-05E-2767) and seized two country-made revolvers with eleven live ammunition from the possession of Newman Kharbani.

Attempt to murder

A woman identified as Samitha R. Marak of Lawsohtun Block-4, lodged a complaint at Laban police station that her husband Tarun Kumar Baitya used to assault her and on April 12, he took her to a nearby jungle and attempted to murder her but she managed to escape. Police arrested the accused from MES Quarters, 101 Area, Upper Shillong.

Suicide

On April 13 at around 2.15 pm, body of woman Khusbu Nongkynrih (22) of Paltan Bazar, Shillong was taken to Civil Hospital Shillong. The deceased is suspected to have committed suicide. Matter is under enquiry.

Attempt to molest

A woman lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar police station that on April 13 at around 7 pm, two unidentified persons attempted to molest her at Police Bazar, Shillong. When she resisted, the miscreants assaulted her mother and sister.

Assault

On April 11 at around 7.30 am, one Rophinus Lamare was assaulted by Charly Dkhar, Bok Dkhar and Kynshe Dkhar at Barato village in West Jaintia Hills. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to PHC Barato.

lOn April 7 at around 7 pm, one Janerious Shangdiar (25) assaulted his wife Renolin Mawlein (18) with a knife and also threatened her and her family members with dire consequences at Langja village in West Khasi Hills . Police arrested the accused.

Extortion

One Begraj Sharma of Nengkhra Petrol Pump in East Garo Hills lodged a complaint at Williamnagar police station that on April 11 at around 6 pm, three unidentified miscreants in a motorcycle (without registration number) went to the petrol pump and demanded money from him at gun point. They also assaulted him causing injuries on his head. On receipt of information, Police rushed to the spot and arrested two persons identified as Kit R. Marak (25) and Sengjrangbirth N. Marak (28) while one of their accomplices managed to escape. Police seized, one pistol with one magazine and one revolver cylinder from their possession.

Rape

A person of Mynso village lodged a complaint at Jowai police station that on April 10 around 5.30 pm, his daughter was raped by one Pham Biam at Nongbah in West Jaintia Hills.

Arrest

A woman identified as Lina Kharthangmaw lodged a complaint at Laban police station that on April 2 at around 9 am, one Krong Khyllait of Rymshylla village in East Khasi Hills burned the jungle belonging to the complainant. Police arrested the accused.

Abduction

One Md. Abul Hussain lodged a complaint at Tura police station that on March 25 his brother-in-law Md. Kasem Ali, a scrap dealer while travelling in a vehicle (ML-08-6582), was abducted by unidentified armed miscreants from Muri Apal under Rongram out post in West Garo Hills .

Threat

On March 23 at around 9 pm, one Saljapang Marak demanded Rs 2 lakh from a woman identified Sujini D. Shira at Koksi Nengsak under Songsak police station in North Garo Hills and also threatened to kidnap her daughter if she fails to pay the amount.

Theft

One Sanbor Kharsyntiew of Pohkseh, Shillong lodged a complaint at Rynjah police station that on April 13 between 1 am and 5 pm, one Hardingstar Lyngdoh Mawlieh stole cash Rs. 52,000 from the complainant’s beef shop at Rynjah Bazar. The same person also stole Rs. 18,000 from his shop earlier. Police arrested the accused and recovered cash Rs. 54,000 from his possession.
