Alleged extortion demand by JYF prez

SHILLONG: A person identified as Madonbai Rymbai has alleged that the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF), Jaintia Hills Unit president Poipynhun Majaw demanded Rs 5 lakh from him.
Police said that Madonbai Rymbai lodged a complaint at Jowai police station that on March 11 around 8:40 pm, Poipynhun Majaw went to his residence at Khliehtyrshi, West Jaintia Hills in a Maruti car (ML-05E-1824) and demanded Rs. 5 lakh.
On April 4, the accused person demanded money over phone from Esterwis Ryngkhlem during the JHADC elections 2014 but when Ryngkhlem refused to do so, the accused person threatened to damage the image and political career of Madonbai Rymbai.
Again on Wednesday, Esterwis Ryngkhlem received an SMS from the accused person demanding Rs. 5 lakh.
When contacted, West Jaintia Hills SP Herbert Lyngdoh said that the police have registered a case in this regard and investigation is on. It is learnt that the police is looking for the accused but his whereabouts are not known.
