Like in all Catholic Churches throughout the world, the washing of the feet of chosen twelve men,  representing the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, was performed at the Grotto Chapel at  Laitumkhrah, Shillong, also on Holy Thursday evening, where the feet of twelve members of the  congregation were washed by Rev Fr Joby Joseph symbolizing the service and charity of Christ,  who came “not to be served, but to serve.”
