Guwahati: The pro-talks faction of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) on Thursday disowned one of its leaders, Naba Kumar Sarania (Hira) who has contested the current parliamentary election from Kokrajhar constituency in Assam as an Independent candidate.
Serving a blow to Sarania, the ULFA faction in a statement e-mailed to the media here appealed to the voters in Kokrajhar constituency not to vote for him as he had ‘made mockery’ of extreme sacrifices made by hundreds of martyrs of ULFA who laid down their lives for the ‘national struggle’, by participating in election to India Parliament against the principles and ideology of the ULFA.
The ULFA faction also made it clear that it had in no way extended any tactical support to the electoral battle of Naba Kumar Sarania who has already been expelled from the ULFA because of his individual decision to stand in parliamentary election of India.
The ULFA further stated that those ULFA members who are working for Naba Kumar Sarania in the electioneering, should not be considered as ULFA members any longer by the people in general as well as all political and non-political organisations.
It said that the ULFA should not be held responsible for any of the actions of these persons that are not n tune
with the ideology and principles of the ULFA.
