TURA: The Forest Homeguards Personnel have demanded the immediate payment of their salary and arrears which have long been overdue.

In a statement issued here on Sunday the aggrieved employees informed that due to the non-payment of their salaries since February this year they were facing undue hardships including the inability to provide admission for their children in schools.

They added that shopkeepers who had once allowed them to avail credit in their shops were now refusing to entertain them as they were unable to clear their previous dues.

In order to press for demand to release their salaries the All Garo Hills Homeguards Personnel Association (AGHHPA) organized a meeting at MP Stadium in Tura on Saturday where it made an appeal to concerned authorities to fulfill their demands.

The association also warned that it would be forced to take its own course of action and agitate against the department if it fails to heed their demands.
