SHILLONG: The HSPDP Mawthadraishan Constituency has endorsed the expulsion of Fenela L Nonglait by the West Khasi Hills unit of the Party for campaigning for UDP candidate Paul Lyngdoh at Motphran on April 7.

After the decision of HSPDP’s West Khasi Hills District unit to expel Fenela from the party, HSPDP Mawthadraishan secretary Grossper Ryntathiang said on Sunday that following a meeting held on Saturday by the party leaders of the Constituency, it was decided to endorse the stand of the district functionaries.

Though HSPDP and KHNAM supported the candidature of Independent candidate Rev. PBM Basaiawmoit in the Lok Sabha polls, the sudden decision of HSPDP leader Fenela to support the UDP candidate had surprised many HSPDP leaders.

The party’s grass root workers in West Khasi Hills had supported the expulsion, but HSPDP president HS Lyngdoh is yet to take a decision on the matter.

Earlier during the meeting of the HSPDP leaders from Mawthadraishan Constituency on Saturday, Tuberlin Lyngdoh was elected as the president of the Constituency while Spailin Sohlang, Nolin Mairang and Blan Warjri were elected as vice presidents.

Grossper Ryntathiang was appointed as secretary, while BK Budnah and Kinglystar Marwein were named joint secretaries.

Other functionaries include K. Hoojon (publicity secretary), H. Chanelly Lyngdoh (treasurer), S Lyngdoh Nonglait and S. Nongphud (auditors).
