Six GNLA cadres arrested in Assam, arms recovered

GUWAHATI: A joint team of Assam Police and Army personnel arrested six Garo National Liberation Army cadres and recovered a cache of arms from Goalpara district of Assam on Sunday.

“Six hardcore terrorists of GNLA were apprehended at Borjhara village in Goalpara district in a successful joint operation under Lakhipur police station by Lakhipur battalion of Red Horns Division and Goalpara Police,” an official Army release said.

Four Italian-made 7.65 mm pistols, two country-made rifles, two swords, several live rounds, five mobile phones and three motorcycles were seized from their possession, the release said. (PTI)
