One dead in road mishap in EJH

SHILLONG: One person died while several others sustained injuries in a road accident reported from Lumshnong in East Jaintia Hills, a delayed report said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on April 17 at about 1 pm, when a trailer truck (NL-01D-4815) dashed against a Maruti van (ML-05F-6292) driven by Piklu Das (23) and an oil tanker (AS-01V-0375) driven by Md. Kalam Uddin (35) at Lumshnong, East Jaintia Hills. As a result of the hit, the Maruti van fell into a deep gorge and caught fire. The driver of the van and an occupant sustained injuries and were shifted to Lumshnong PHC, while the driver of the tanker died on the spot. The driver of the trailer truck fled from the spot, after the incident.
