Implementation of ILP

SHILLONG: The 13 ILP pressure groups have indicated that they would like to first listen to the views of the Government over the implementation of the ILP before presenting their views during the crucial second round of meeting scheduled to be held on April 29.
“We have decided to first listen to the State Government on the stand of the pressure groups.”
“After this, we would be presenting our views and suggestions,” one of the pressure groups said after an informal meeting of all the 13 pressure groups on Friday.
The pro ILP groups will also present their views before the State government on the proposed points that ought to be incorporated in the existing Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873.
The pressure group leaders also indicated that the interest groups will also demand an immediate release of their members who, during the agitation phase, have been booked under the Meghalaya Prevention Detention Act (MDPA) in the next round of meeting.
