Second hat-trick for EKH’s Nisilia Majaw

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills girls continued their dominant display from Tuesday by overwhelming South Garo Hills 7-1 on the second day of the State Level Chief Minister’s Football Tournament for boys and girls under-12 at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Wednesday.
Nisilia Majaw recorded her second successive hat-trick of the tournament by putting three goals into the back of the net.
She scored in the ninth, 15th and 24th minutes; Nisilia had scored four in Tuesday’s win over East Jaintia Hills.
Badarisha Kharumnuid was the other hat-trick queen on Wednesday, scoring in the 32nd, 37th and 44th minutes.
Banriakor Kharkamni (19th) scored the other goal for East Khasi Hills, while Chesil S Sangma (11th) scored one for SGH.
Meanwhile, Ri-Bhoi won their second successive match as well, beating East Garo Hills 2-0 through goals by Phiba Diengdoh (3rd) and Iadashisha Mawkroh (42nd).
South West Khasi Hills pipped West Khasi Hills 1-0 thanks to a goal from Idaris Jyrwa (36th).
In the earliest girls’ encounter, East Jaintia Hills beat West Garo Hills 4-1.
Sophia Dkhar recorded a brace (20th, 41st), while Hakini Suting (14th) and Rushia Dkhar (16th) contributed a goal apiece.
WGH had actually taken the lead in the very first minute through Kashmi M Marak before being swamped by their East Jaintia Hills opponents.
The boys from South West Khasi Hills were the biggest winners on the second day, beating South West Garo Hills 7-0.
Eolesun Lyngdoh opened the scoring in the fourth minute and added two further goals (44th, 50th minutes) to achieve a hat-trick. The other goal scorers were Wanboklang Wahlang (13th), Banteilang Shangdiar (18th), Banteiskhem Jyrwa (19th) and Hamekinsan K Wanniang (21st).
In later matches, East Garo Hills drew 2-2 with South Garo Hills. Wallining Sangma (13th) and Santa Sangma (38th) scored for EGH, while Roney M Sangma (37th) and Mayan M Sangma (49th) scored for SGH.
Mehunshemlang (17th) scored the only goal in West Khasi Hills’ victory over West Garo Hills.
In the final boys game of the day, West Jaintia Hills edged North Garo Hills 2-1.
Dasaman Suchiang put the WJH team ahead in the third minute before Ezraiya B Sangma equalised in the 37th. Giovannt Thabru then provided the winner five minutes later.
