SHILLONG: One person identified as Wanplielad J Pohshna has said that Chief Justice of High Court of Meghalaya, Prafulla C Pant has been taking up single bench matters and also all motion, admission, order matters of cases pertaining to writ petition (C) and all motions, order hearing of criminal matters cognizable by single judge.
He has also written a letter to the Chief Justice of India seeking his intervention into the matter.
Pohshna said that since the Chief Justice has been taking up single bench matters the same when goes for appeal before other justices, the other justices cannot go against the order of the judgment passed by the Chief Justice, hence the right of appeal to some extent is curtailed and litigants suffer.
He also said that of late, the filing of cases in the High Court of Meghalaya has been made very complicated and tiring not only for the advocates but the Court officials and the litigants as every page of the petition is to be signed by the litigant, the advocate and the Court official.
