SHILLONG: The General Administration Department (GAD) of the State Government will soon float the tender to invite bidders who are keen to occupy on rent the commercial block of the newly constructed Kolkata Meghalaya House on Russel Street.
“We would be floating the tender for giving the commercial block on rent at the earliest,” GAD Minister HDR Lyngdoh informed.
But he could not put a date to the possible inauguration of the building. It was difficult to predict when the project would be inaugurated. “We would like to inaugurate at the earliest,” he said.
The GAD Minister informed that he was scheduled to inspect the newly constructed Kolkata Meghalaya House on May 13. “I would be going to assess the progress of the project,” Lyngdoh said.
Informing that the constructing of the building was complete, he said that that the interiors of the building were yet to be furnished.
“We could have started the furnishing of the building if there was no delay in getting the sanction because of the election model code of conduct,” the Minister said.
Lyngdoh informed that the construction of the sewerage of the building connecting it to the main sewerage system of Kolkata city had been completed.
The project had hit several hurdles with the cost escalating from the initial Rs. 22 crore to Rs. 49.2 crore.
