Tagore birth anniv celebrations conclude

SHILLONG: The two-day long 153rd Birth Anniversary of Tagore organized by the dept. of Arts and Culture, Govt. of Meghalaya concluded recently.

Students from different schools of the city participated in the painting and poetry recitation competition to mark the celebrations.

A cultural function was also organized at Brookside premises on the backyard where Inginuity Swer enthralled the audience by her dance recital in Karnataki Talam on famous Rabindra Sangeet – “Ananda dhara Boliche bhubone’ to the tune of Dr (Mrs) Lapynshai Syiem. The audience

lauded this most innovative concept of Padmashri Dr Helen Giri.

Tagore’s another unforgettable recital, “Ekla chalore’ was presented on flute by Benedict Hynniewta, an ex-student of Shantiniketan who charmed all present.

A choreography on the national anthem to the tune of Lata Mangeshkar was the added attraction and concluding item of the celebration.
