TURA: The United Christian Peace Forum (UCPF) will organise a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Garo Hills on May 25, all over the garo Hills region.
In Tura, the fasting and prayer meeting would be held at the District Auditorium at 2 pm while the rest of UCPF zonal bodies would decide the venues in other districts.
UCPF secretary Rev Manhseng A Momin informed in a statement that the main purpose of organizing the fasting and prayer was for peace and security in the region.
“The peace and security in Garo Hills is deteriorating day by day and there is fear psychosis among the common people. We realize the need for organizing the same and sincerely pray for divine intervention so that Garo Hills can achieve peace once again,” he said.
The UCPF has made an appeal to all peace loving citizens of Garo Hills to come and participate while also informing that its zonal bodies including Tura, Williamnagar, Mendipathar, Resubelpara, Baghmara, Rongjeng, Ampati, Chokpot and Dalu would be organizing the same programme at respective selected venues on the same date and time.
