Meghalayan named in AIFF squad

SHILLONG: Meghalaya’s Kyntiew Kharlukhi was named in the 18-member squad of the AIFF Kalyani Regional Academy that will travel to Kuala Lumpur to begin their campaign in the Asian Champions Trophy.

The boys, who were part of the AFC U-16 Qualifiers in Kuwait last year, have been clubbed in Group A with Frenz United Indonesia, PVF FA Vietnam, Timor Leste U-16 National Team, Home United SC Singapore and Frenz United Malaysia A, it was announced on the All India Football Federation website on Thursday.

The squad also consists of several players from Manipur, Assam and Mizoram.

Kharlukhi plays as a midfielder.

Squad: Goalkeepers – Dheeraj Singh (Manipur), Subrata Das (West Bengal); Defenders – Jayananda Singht (Manipur), Jerry Lalrinzuala (Mizoram), T Kishan Singh (Manipur), Prosenjit Chakraborty (West Bengal), Amit Tudu (West Bengal), Amey Ranawade (Maharashtra); Midfielders – Bodo Baoringdao (Assam), Kyntiew Kharlukhi (Meghalaya), Anirudh Thapa (Uttarakhand), Deependra Singh Negi (Uttarakhand), Aaron Franklin (Goa); Forwards: Nijwm Muchahary (Assam), Krishna Pandit (Chandigarh), Nuruddin Sameer (Uttar Pradesh), Kapil Hoble (Goa), Laishram Bedashwor Singh (Manipur).
