Drop-in centre for women in distress

SHILLONG: The Reach Shillong Ministries on Saturday opened “Grace Drop in Centre for Women” at Lumdiengsoh in a small but impressive function.

The Chairperson of Meghalaya State Women Commission, T Phanbuh, inaugurated the Drop in Centre in the presence of the Rangbah Shnong and Secretary of Lumdiengsoh, officers from the Social Welfare Department apart from representatives from different NGOs, the Jingiaseng Kynthei and supporters of the Ministry.

Speaking on the occasion, T Phanbuh while congratulating the Ministry for opening the first-ever Open Day Shelter for women in the District, said that lots of women in the society are in need of assistance for different needs.

She called upon the Ministry to continue what it is doing, helping the poor and the needy.

The members of the Board of Reach Shillong Ministries in the course of the function informed that the purpose of opening the Drop In Centre is primarily to help the women in distress and those that have strayed but in need of a new beginning in life.

There will be counselling, vocational training like broom and candle making and other day-to-day lessons for a better life.
