Kidnapped sericulture official released

NONGSTOIN: A sericulture official who was kidnapped by unidentified persons was released recently.

The official, Rostar Bolchugre, a resident of Malangkona in West Khasi Hills district, who was kidnapped by four unidentified persons on May 12 was released by his captors on May 16 near Malangkona area. Bolchugre is a demonstrator in the Sericulture Department.

On the night of May 12 after his dinner at his residence, four unknown persons came and abducted him at gun point. Later, his captors demanded Rs 30 Lakh from his family. However, on May 16, he was released unconditionally.

Police sources suspect that his family had made a payment to his captors for his release. Reliable sources said that Bolchugre’s family could have paid nearly Rs 5 lakh for his release.

Police sources also said that no FIR was lodged so far in connection to the case. It is rumored that the four unknown persons abducted Bolchugre as he belonged to an affluent family who had several immovable assets.
