Inauguration of Nongpoh shopping complex

NONGPOH: Peeved by inordinate delay in the inauguration of the Urban Affairs Shopping Complex here, the KSU Nongpoh circle on Friday issued a month’s deadline to the State Government to make the complex functional.

“We will open the complex ourselves if the government fails to honour the deadline,” president of the KSU’s Nongpoh Circle, Lambok Rymbai said following a meeting with Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Pooja Pandey.

The shopping complex houses around 200 stalls which are supposed to be allotted to local shop owners whose stalls were dismantled to make space for the four-lane project.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that formalities relating to the opening of the complex could not be completed due to the enforcement of the model code of conduct in view of the Lok Sabha election.

Pandey also assured that the complex would be inaugurated at the earliest.
