Several injured as bus overturns in Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG: Several persons, mostly coal labourers and their families were injured when a night super bus (ASO1X – 8766) heading towards Guwahati overturned after it drove off the road in Jaintia Hills on a turning when the driver lost control of the vehicle on Thursday.

The incident happened at Mookyndur under Thadlaskein Block. The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based in Khliehtyrshi, Jowai and Mawryngkneng helped in shifting Monju Deka (35) to Ummulong Community Health Centre , Janath Boro (30), Bijoy Deka (40), Purba Lama (36), Santi Monkol (33), Dewan Monkol (25), Santosh Lawari (33), Hamnath (50), Ashok Chettri (21) and Saina Lawari (6) to Jowai Civil Hospital. Others who sustained minor injuries were administered first aid at the accident scene. Some of the injured victims had boarded the bus from Lad Rymbai.
