Celebration

Laban Bengalee Boys Higher Secondary School celebrated the 153rd birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and the 116th birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam at the school auditorium and school students paid their tribute to them through poems and songs. The programme ended with the distribution of prizes of the sports meet of the school and felicitation of the school cricket champion team.

West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has informed that all State Government offices and all revenue magisterial courts, educational institutions in West Khasi Hills will remain closed on May 26 on account of Shad Suk Mynsiem.

Competition

The NOW Eco Club of the Department of environmental science and National Service Scheme, St. Edmunds College Unit observed the International Day on Biological diversity on this year’s theme on May 2 at college. Presentations, poster and slogan writing competition were part of the days programme.

Shad Suk Mynsiem

The Shad Suk Mynsiem of the Seng Khasi Mawphlang, traditional thanks giving dance of the Khasis, will be held on May 23, 24 and 25 at Lumpung shad, Mawphlang. Hundreds of men and women dressed in traditional attire will dance to the beat of drums and Tangmuri to thank God for all the blessings.

Programme

Deep Jyoti Environmental Society of Bishnupur, Shillong will host Bahagi Bidai programme on June 7 at Debo Kumar Das memorial hall. Bihu Quwari competition, which is scheduled to be held on May 25, has been deferred to June 7.
