TURA: In a shocking revelation the Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Tikrikilla regional Unit has alleged that the Tikrikilla Girls’ UP and Secondary School has been functioning without a single MIL (Garo) teacher since its establishment in the year 2000.

According to the allegations of the GSU the students belonging to the Garo community of the said school have been preparing on their own and appearing in the MBOSE SSLC examinations for the past many years without a single Garo class being taken due to the absence teachers in the subject. School records obtained by the union also showed that there were a total of 92 Garo students who appeared in the MBOSE SSLC Examination from the year 1999 to 2014.

Stating that the problem was creating grave difficulties to the student community of the region especially the girls the union has urged the education Department as well as the school concerned to strengthen the number of teaching staffs by appointing Garo (MIL) teachers in the school.
