Fashion designers booked for stealing designs

New Delhi: A multi-national ethnic-wear maker has accused two of its former designers of stealing its designs, police said. According to police, an FIR under Section 66B of the Information Act has been registered at Mehrauli police station against Shweta Tyagi and Shaily Goel, who had served as designers for M/S Biba Apparels Pvt Ltd. Jatin Gulati, the manager (legal) of Biba Apparels, has alleged in his complaint that both accused stole several designs during their employment with the company, which has its fashion stores across the globe. Police said that after initial inquiries, it was found that during their employment with the company, both designers transfered several designs from their official emails to their private emails, which amounts to theft of data.Gulati has alleged that both accused joined hands with a rival company. Further, the duo are alleged to have divulged confidential information related to the company’s organisation, finances, technology, etc. and compromised software and databases covering its business activities, which they had access to during their employment with Biba. Burglars strike at temple; decamp with 5 ancient idols

Tiruvarur (TN): Five ancient ‘pancha dhatu’ idols were found stolen from a temple near here on Sunday, police said. Priest of Sanikizhamai Iyyanaar temple, Gajendran, found the locks of the door broken and five idols missing early this morning, they said. The temple is under the control of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endownment Department of Kerala government. District Superintendent of Police P S Kaliraj Maheshkumar, who visited the temple, said a special team has been formed to nab the culprits. (PTI)

Illegal arms unit unearthed, 3 held

Khagaria:  An illegal weapons workshop was unearthed at Phutkichaka in Bihar’s Khagaria district on Sunday following a raid in which three persons were also arrested. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the village and found the illegal workshop operating from a house, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Kumar. Four finished pistols, as many semi-processed weapons and a large quantity of raw materials for making guns were seized from the spot, he said. (PTI)

Six family members charred to death

Agra: Six members of a family including three children were charred to death when a fire broke out due to short circuit in their house in Basal Gujar village near here. Hiralal (26) was staying in the house with his wife Babita (23), mother Rambeti (50), their two children Kajal (1), Jatin (3), and Renu (14), daughter of Babita’s brother, in Basal Gujar village near Pinahat town, 60 km from here. Due to dust storm in the area two high tension wires intertwine causing a spark, which led to the fire in which the house was gutted and all six members perished last night, police said. The neighbours could not control the fire and informed the police and fire department. A fire brigade was rushed to the spot and the fire was doused around midnight, police said. (PTI)
