Selsella, Shyamnagar college building construction

TURA: The A’chik Youth welfare Organisation (AYWO), Central Governing Body (CGB), Tura has expressed concern over the conflicting information given in an RTI filed by the organization as opposed to a separate magisterial enquiry constituted into the Selsella and Shyamnagar College Building constructions.

In a statement issued here recently the organization informed that according to an RTI filed by it on 19th march, 2014, the finding revealed that a total amount of Rs 27, 18, 800 had been released for the construction of the two colleges.

However, as per the findings of the magisterial Enquiry which was constituted by the west Garo Hills District Administration it stated that an amount of only Rs 19, 18, 800 was released for the construction of the Sesella College.

The organization felt that there was something amiss between the RTI finding and the findings of the Magisterial Enquiry as it was learnt that an amount of Rs 10, 78, 000 had been utilized for the construction of the Selsella College as per the report submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Questioning where the remaining amount of Rs 8, 00000 (approx) had gone the organization demanded answers stating that the fund misuse was serious in nature and that the culprits must be booked.

Citing the difference in the amount shown in the RTI which is Rs 27, 18, 800 as against Rs 19, 18, 800 in the magisterial enquiry the organization questioned how this could be possible and whether there could have been any manipulation while furnishing information under RTI or if the report submitted by the BDO of Selsella C&RD Block had been a farce.

With regard to the construction of the Shyamnagar College the organization informed that an amount of Rs 10, 00000 was sanctioned out of which an amount of only Rs 4, 00000 was utilized for the construction of the said college as per the magisterial enquiry.

In view of the seriousness of the matter the AYWO has submitted a complaint letter to the west Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner urging him to look into the matter and bring the culprits to book failing which it warned that the organization would be forced to take its own course of action.
