SHILLONG: The three piece death metal outfit from Shillong Plague Throat has created a storm in the metal arena after they were declared winners of Wacken Metal Battle (India) at the final leg of the competition held at Vapour, Bangalore on Sunday.
The band will now represent India at the biggest metal festival in the world, Wacken Open Air, 2014 slated to take place in Hamburg, Germany later this year.
Dishing out brutal death metal, this outfit being led by Nangsan Lyngwa (vocals, guitars) accompanied by Iaidon Jyrwa (bass) and Dolreich Bianglang Kharmawphlang (drums) have proved time and again that Shillong’s underground metal scene could never be taken lightly. Being an instant hit among fanatics after the release of their debut EP, ‘An Exordium to Contagion’, the elements of doom which embodies their lyrical contents have now taken them to the next level.
The band was formed after a break up with their former Melodic Death Metal band “Against”, and it was until this time that the band was established as a three-piece Death Metal band, and they called themselves “Plague Throat “.
Other bands competing were Theorized, Orion, Perpetual Void and Noize Akademi. Apart from the bands in the competition, the gig features performances by Bevar Sea, The Down Troddence, Eccentric Pendulum, Kryptos and is being headlined by Suidakra.
