Social Welfare dept releases child sponsorship programme

NONGSTOIN: The Office of the District Child protection Officer, West Khasi Hills, Nongstoin functioning under Social Welfare Department, Shillong Meghalaya has released the Sponsorship Programme under Integrated Child Protection Schemes (ICPS) on May 29 at the Office Hall of the District Social Welfare Officer, West Khasi Hills Nongstoin.

Prior to the release of the Sponsorship programme, an orientation was conducted with the parent and the children identified for the purpose.

The DCPO briefed the parents regarding the purpose of sponsorship programme and explained the guideline of sponsorship programme.

He also informed that the sponsorship programme is the provision of supplementary support for families to meet medical, nutritional, educational, and other needs of children under the age of group of 18 years, with the view to improve their quality of life.

It is a conditional assistance given to enable children who are at risk of being removed from their schools and sent to work to continue their education.
