Itanagar: BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal on Saturday categorically said the party’s stand on Arunachal Pradesh was clear and would work to protect its territorial integrity without any compromise.
“Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and will continue to remain so… The territorial integrity of the state is non-negotiable and we are committed to protect it,” Mittal, who was central election observer said on party’s strategy on the oft repeated China’s claim over the state’s territory during a press conference here.
He said, Arunachal Pradesh being a strategically important state in the North East sharing borders with three countries, would get utmost attention from the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
“The induction of Kiren Rijiju in the union Cabinet and providing the important portfolio of the minister of state for Home is a clear indication of the BJP as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi concerns for the state,” he said.
He said, even Rijiju had advocated for increasing the number of troops guarding the Indo-Sino border besides emphasising to strengthen infrastructure along the frontier in the state to match China.
Rijiju on Friday while talking to media in New Delhi said that there has not been enough deployment of forces like ITBP which guard the Indo-Sino border and there is urgent necessity to increase the number and provide sophisticated arms, ammunition and communication gadgets.
Mittal, however, exuded hope that with the BJP-led NDA government in the Centre, the issue would be resolved through fruitful negotiations.(PTI)
