Environment Day programme

On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, the NSS Unit of NEHU will organise a cleaning drive and tree plantation programme in the University campus to be followed by other activities including a Quiz Competition, Essay competition and a documentary show.

The Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry Division, East Khasi Hills, will celebrate World Environment Day on June 5 at the College of Teacher’s Education (PGT) on June 5 at 2.30pm.

Programme

The State Council of Science Technology and Environment in association with CSIR – Central Glass Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata, will organize an entrepreneurship development programme on ceramic membrance-based water purification from June 10-13 at Shillong Science Centre, NEHU.

Conference

AESI, in collaboration with NEHU, SEAS and Bishop Heber College, Trichy, will organize a National Conference on Biodiversity at Women’s College, Shillong, on June 5-6.

Condolence

The Narendra Modi Fan Club, Meghalaya, has condoled the sudden demise of Union Minister of Rural Development, Gopinath Munde, in an accident on Tuesday and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Drama workshop

A week long drama workshop will be conducted by Sangeet Natak Akademi in association with Rilbong Sports and Cultural Club from June 14 at Rilbong. The workshop will be conducted by noted dramatist Rudra Prasad Sengupta. Participants have been asked to attend a screening test on June 7 from 11 am to 2 pm at Rilbong Club Conference Hall.

MDC lauded

The FKJGP Nongthymmai Circle has lauded local MDC and KHADC Executive Member in charge Trade Latiplang Kharkongor for closing the shops of non-tribal businessmen at Iewduh who do not possess valid trading license and expressed happiness that the KHADC is really committed to safeguard the interest of the indigenous tribal population.
