GNLA claims responsibility, terms it ‘revenge’
TURA: The mass condemnation against the brutal killing of the unarmed woman across the country and the world notwithstanding, the banned GNLA outfit has justified its decision to execute the mother of four young children at Raja Ronggat in Chokpot on Tuesday.
“GNLA has verified and confirmed that woman was the police source and she was responsible for the death of our training instructor Kram,” claimed political affairs secretary of GNLA, Bikdot Nikjang Marak in a quick response to the wide criticism against his group by the public.
The GNLA had left a note at the site which said that the outfit killed the woman for being police informer.
He claimed that a special command of the outfit was sent on a mission to kill her for allegedly working for police.
Interestingly, the political secretary does not mention about his cadres attempts at molesting and raping the victim which was revealed by the children of the deceased.
“The command comprising of cadres were on a mission to eliminate this woman. She fled away but on that fateful day she came back and got executed,” said Bikdot Nikjang.
Meanwhile, two militant outfits under the banner of A’chik Revolutionary Front (ARF) have warned of retaliation against the GNLA for the execution of the woman.
“We condemn the merciless killing of the innocent woman by GNLA. We will no longer tolerate such Goonda Raj by GNLA which is a selfish and depraved minded organization,” warned the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) of Norrok X Momin and the Liberation of A’chik Elite Force (LAEF) headed by commander in chief Riksrang G Momin in a joint statement to The Shillong Times under the banner of the A’chik Revolutionary Front (ARF).
The Mothers’ Union of Tura, in the meantime, held an emergency meeting at Tura on Wednesday evening to express shock and condemnation over the brutal murder of a mother in front of her children by the GNLA.
Terming it a horrible and gruesome show of disrespect and insensitivity for the life of a woman, the mothers condemned the cold blooded act of cowardice saying it cannot be tolerated and watched silently.
“This crime can neither be condoned nor forgotten. A strong decision and action is what the union demands of the administration at this very hour. It is a clear message of hatred for a fellow human being more so a woman, a mother,” stated the union.
