3-yr-old raped in Chhattisgarh, accused arrested
Raipur: A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a bicycle mechanic in Chhattisgarh’s Balod district on Wednesday, police said. The victim, a resident of Bade Jungera village, had gone to the cycle repairing shop of Deenbandhu (27) along with his 6-year-old brother to get their cycle repaired, Daundi Lohara Station House Office NP Chandrakar said. After the repairing work, victim’s brother left the place leaving behind her sister who was playing there. On finding the girl alone, Deenbandhu took her inside his house, which is located just opposite to his shop, and sexually assaulted her, the SHO said. On returning to her house, the victim narrated the incident to her parents following which they lodged a complaint with police. Later, angry villagers thrashed the accused mechanic and handed him over to police. (PTI)
Lalu demands arrest of LJP MP
New Delhi: RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Wednesday demanded the arrest of newly-elected Vaishali MP Rama Singh from of LJP, alleging that he “hid the fact” that he is an “absconder” in an abduction case in his election affidavit. Rama Singh is one of the six MPs from Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s party LJP, which won in the Lok Sabha election in Bihar in alliance with the BJP. He defeated RJD Vice President Raghuvansh Prasad Singh in Lok Sabha polls. Rama Singh, who was seen in Parliament on the first day of the 16th Lok Sabha, could not be reached for his comments.
Wehn contacted LJP Secretary General Abdul Khaliq said that he would first speak to the MP in this regard and then comment. At a press conference addressed by Prasad, his party Vice President former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh released a letter he has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to take action against the LJP MP. Dolly Bindra granted anticipatory bail
Mumbai: The Dindori sessions court in suburban Mumbai on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to reality show contestant Dolly Bindra and her mother in a case of unlawful assembly and rioting registered against them. “The court has granted anticipatory bail to Dolly, her mother Jaswant Kaur Bindra and two others”, Bindra’s lawyer Vinit Jain said. Jain said that there was a scuffle between some housing society members and Bindra’s family on May 29, after which a case was registered against the Bindras on May 31. They moved the pre-arrest bail application yesterday and argued that charges of unlawful assembly cannot be filed against a person who assembled outside her own residence, Jain added. (PTI)
Woman bus conductor molested
Thane: A woman bus conductor was on Wednesday allegedly molested and manhandled by a 30-year-old passenger in Dombivli town here following a heated altercation over boarding the bus from the front exit, police said. According to Senior Police Inspector Milind Patil of Manpada police station, the MSRTC bus was on its way to Dombivili railway station when the accused, identified as Arvind Singh, a resident of Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai, ran with the moving bus and tried to board it near Dombivili Sahakari Bank from the front exit. The driver and the conductor objected to the passenger boarding the bus from the front door and instead asked him to take the rear entrance. Annoyed, Singh allegedly began abusing both of them after entering the bus. When the woman asked Singh to stop misbehaving, he allegedly pushed her and tore her clothes during the scuffle. At this, angry fellow passengers roughed up the accused and subsequently handed him over to Manpada police. (PTI)
Gold bars worth Rs 54 lakh seized
Mangalore: Two gold bars valued at about Rs 54 lakh were seized from a passenger who arrived at the International Airport here from Dubai. The gold bars, weighing two kg, were concealed in the shoes of the passenger, officials said here on Wednesday. Ibrahim Kaleel Ebrahim Kunhi, a native of Kasaragod in Kerala, had arrived at Mangalore Airport at 10 PM on Tuesday by an Air India Express Flight from Dubai. He was remanded in judicial custody till June 17. (PTI)
