SHILLONG: The central executive committee meeting of UDP held on Friday decided to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking their intervention to impose President’s rule in the State plagued by militancy related incidents.

The decision was taken after the Assembly rejected the adjournment motion moved by the Opposition to impose President’s rule in the state. UDP president Donkupar Roy told reporters that after the Assembly session, a delegation of UDP will meet the Prime Minister and Home Minister seeking their immediate intervention due to the spurt in violent incidents in Garo Hills. “The Centre should intervene and dismiss the Congress-led Government in Meghalaya and fresh elections should be held,” he said.
