SHILLONG: The ANVC-B on Sunday said that there is a hope of restoring peace in Garo Hills since GNLA chairman Champion has been considering the possibilities of avoiding further bloodshed, thus bringing normalcy to Garo Hills.
In a statement issued here, ANVC-B said that the State Government must arrange a platform for negotiations instead of using force against the Garo militants.
“Talks are a priority, failure of which should be force. Using force without initiating talks is unfair to us as it is the people of Garo Hills who face extreme loss,” ANVC-B said, adding that it stands for defending the Garo society.
The ANVC-B further urged the State Government to initiate talks with leaders of other organisations to bring them under the ambit of the proposed peace pact.
“Champion’s inclusion is very important for the Garos as he represents GNLA. The State Government must consider this proposal and act cautiously so as not to allow further deterioration of the law and order situation in Garo Hills,” the ANVC-B added.
