Lawjynriew-F triumph in Nongthymmai footy tourney

SHILLONG: Lawjynriew-F won the final of the Interblock Football Tournament, organised by the Nongthymmai Sports Club, via a tie-breaker against Lawjynriew-H at Nongthymmai Ground on Saturday.

Neither team could seal the issue within full time, forcing a penalty shoot-out, which Lawjynriew-F claimed 5-4.

The chief guest for the final was local MLA Jemino Mawthoh, with other dignitaries including Meghalaya Football Association secretary SS Rapthap.

Lawjynriew-F took home Rs 5,000 and the trophy, with Rs 3,000 going to the runners-up.

The Best Promising Player award went to Ernest Phankon of Nongshilliang-A, while Dashan Nengnong took the Top Scorer honour
