SHILLONG: The State Government will examine the re-appointment of the son of Denis Nongsiej, who was one of the victims killed in the Langpih firing incident on May 14, 2010.

“We would review the whole issue and take necessary action,” Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma assured in the Assembly while replying to a call attention motion moved by HSPDP MLA Witting Mawsor in the Assembly here on Monday.

Earlier, West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner S Kharlyngdoh had terminated the service of the son of Nongsiej Kardius Syiemlieh.

Syiemlieh was given an appointment by the State Government at the office of the Deputy Commissioner in support of the family who lost their father due to the indiscriminate firing by the Assam police.

He (Syiemlieh) was terminated from the service after he had worked for more than three years.

While moving the call attention motion, Mawsor said that the termination of the service has affected the family very badly.

“The six younger brothers and sisters of the poor young man had to discontinue their schooling after the Deputy Commissioner terminated the service of their young brother,” the HSPDP MLA said.

He also pleaded the State Government to re-examine the re-appointment of Syiemlieh.
