American rapper Pitbull, whose FIFA World Cup 2014 anthem ‘Ole Ola’ has already become a chartbuster, is looking forward to perform at the opening ceremony on June 12 in Brazil along with local singer Claudia Leitte. ‘We Are One’ (‘Ole Ola’) also features vocals from pop star Jennifer Lopez besides Pitbull and Claudia.
“‘Ole Ola’ being the official anthem for Fifa World Cup 2014, Claudia and I would be performing at the opening ceremony on June 12. All of us are extremely excited for the ceremony! It is going to be crazy performing in front of such a huge crowd, millions of people watching. Can’t wait to perform,” Pitbull said in an interview.
The 33-year-old rapper, real name Armando Christian Perez, has previously collaborated with Lopez in songs like ‘Dance Again’, ‘Drinks for You’, ‘Live It Up’, ‘On the Floor’ among others. But this is the first time he has worked with Brazilian singer Claudia.
“Football anthems add another level of energy and craziness to the game. We wanted to maintain that level of energy while making ‘Ole Ola. When we started working on the track we could feel that same level of excitement, energy and were very happy the way it turned out. Creating ‘We Are One’ was an incredible experience with JLo and Claudia Leitte. They are wonderful women to work with,” he said.
Latin singing sensation Shakira has also come out with a track ‘La La La’ for the World Cup and Pitbull said he likes her version a lot. “I have heard the track and I think it is quite amazing! Shakira is looking stunning in the video and it is shot really well,” he said.
Pitbull had enthralled the Indian audience at last year’s IPL opening ceremony.
He has also collaborated with Bollywood actress-singer Priyanka Chopra in her single ‘Exotic’.
When asked if he is open to working with other Indian artistes, he said, “If given an opportunity I would love to work with Indian artistes. India is an extremely talented country.” (PTI)
