CID on job in missing file case: Prestone

SHILLONG: Forest and Environment Minister Prestone Tynsong informed the State Assembly on Tuesday that the state CID had started investigation into the disappearance of government files relating to Border Areas Development Scheme from the State secretariat.

Replying to a query on the disappearance of the files, Tynsong, who also holds Border Area Development portfolio, said an FIR in this regard was lodged at Sadar police station and police have registered a case under section 380 of the IPC.

According to Tynsong, the precise contents of the files were not known.

The Government files which had gone missing contained papers related to the alleged misappropriation of over Rs 30 lakh meant for the the Syndari park

It was the Deputy Secretary to the Forest & Environment Department A. Nikhla who had lodged a complaint at Sadar Police Station that two files bearing No. FOR.76/2006, relating to the alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Border Area Development Programme went missing from the Forest and Environment Department, Secretariat Building, Shillong, between 2006 and March 19, 2014.
