SHILLONG: The State Government is open to the idea of appointing professionals in the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL), said Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.

The Chief Minister said this in the state Assembly on Tuesday while replying to a question tabled by UDP member Paul Lyngdoh if Government would appoint professionals as CMD and member (finance) of the MeECL.

Stating that “the people who are now in charge of MeECL can also be referred as professionals,” the Chief Minister said Government would like to have full time professionals in the MeECL.

He also said that people in the state were earlier apprehensive of brining professionals from outside the state.
