SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Tuesday assured the Assembly that further inquiry will be carried out to ascertain whether East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vijay Mantri has any nexus with the militants as was being alleged.

He was replying to a call attention motion moved by Opposition leader Donkupar Roy who said that an individual identified as Mary G Momin, from one A·chik Senior Citizen’s Forum had taken up the issue with the Chief Minister, the DGP and the Governor alleging that the East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner had nexus with militants and was engaged in collection of money from the check gates as per the order from the higher ups.

“However, after proper inquiry it was found that there was nobody called Mary G Momin and no organization in the name of A·chik Senior Citizen’s Forum. But the letter was found to have been posted from Guwahati,” the Chief Minister told the House.
