NONGSTOIN: Following assurance by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to look into the plight of Kardius Syiemlieh, the son of Dennis Nongsiej, one of the victims of the infamous Langpih firing incident on May 14, 2010, a much-relieved Kardius on Tuesday expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and local legislator Witting Mawsor for taking note of his plight.
Kardius, who had been appointed as a peon in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District, on compassionate grounds was unceremoniously shunted out on February 28 last. A visibly happy Kardius, who has been earning a living for himself and his family by engaging in menial jobs, said that he and his family were grateful to Witting Mawsor for raising his issue in the State Assembly on Monday.
