Govt panel to quantify, evaluate extracted coal

SHILLONG: A committee constituted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) consisting of Central and State Government officials will visit various locations across the State on June 14 and 16, to quantify the amount of coal already extracted and also establish the proximate value of coal presently lying in the open.
The State Co-ordination Committee of Coal Owners’, Miners’ & Dealers’ Forum has asked all stake holders related to coal business to be available in person on June 14 and 16 in their respective depots or in places where the extracted coal are stored or kept.
All coal owners and miners have been requested to assemble in the respective offices of the Deputy Commissioner, SDO or BDO before 10 am on the said dates and to proceed to the individual or group coal depots for inspection and to ascertain their stocks.
The Hima Nongstoin Land Owners’, Coal Traders’ and Producers’ Association has also appealed the coal traders to cooperate with the Government authorities in the two-day exercise.
