SHILLONG: Goals by Maitshaphrang Nengnong, Jerry Zonunsanga and Donborlang Nongkynrih helped Royal Wahingdoh FC walk home as 3-1 winners over Malki SC in an U-19 Shillong Premier League match at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Friday.

The junior Royals team fielded several of their U-16 players in the fixture.

Nengnong gave Wahingdoh the lead in the 18th minute after beating the Malki goalkeeper and Zonunsanga then made it 2-0 in the 37th minute following a lapse in the defence.

RWFC could have had more goals but let a number of opportunities go to waste, yet they looked a much stronger outfit than the one that lost 1-0 to defending champions Nangkiew Irat in their opener on Tuesday.

Malki came back hard soon after the break and were close to scoring on a few occasions.

However, they were held off until the 87th minute when Shasbar Mawlong reduced the margin.

Wahingdoh newcomer Nongkynrih hit the final nail in the coffin just three minutes later, however, with a conversion that gave the Royals a much-deserved 3-1 victory.
