NGH DC prohibits rampant felling of trees

RESUBELPARA: North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, W Khyllep has prohibited rampant felling of trees and clearing of jungles at the water-catchment areas in the district under the Municipality, Soil and Water Conservation Act.

According to an official press communique, no individual, group of individuals, contractors and sub-contractors will be allowed to cut trees, clear jungles and collect sand and stones for any purpose from the water catchment areas of any streams and tributaries of the major rivers like Damring, Manda and Didram which pass through the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also warned that the violators of the prohibitory order will be penalized under the Act.
