SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh FC’s hopes of a comeback against Rangdajied United FC failed despite a strong second half display in their U-19 Shillong Premier League match, played at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Saturday.

The junior RUFC outfit won the match 2-1.

A brace by A Kharmaw (23rd and 50th minutes) put Rangdajied in a strong position before Donborlang Nongkynrih reduced the margin for the Royals.

Under wet conditions, Wahingdoh goalkeeper Nim Tenzing failed to hold onto a couple of shots that allowed Rangdajied the lead.

Donborlang, who scored a hat-trick in the previous match, neatly lobbed the ball over the opposition goalie to narrow the margin, but the junior Royals, who dominated possession, struggled to covert several chances, which hurt them in the end.

Monday’s match will see Langsning SC take on Malki SC at 4:15pm
