The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills on Monday issued an order banning illegal bullfights and gambling (with dice) in West Jaintia Hills. According to the release, the District Magistrate has promulgated section 144 CrPC after various complaints received from the public.

Certain areas in Mihmyntdu village, Hynniawmer (7th Miles) in Ialong, Shangpung are pockets in West Jaintia Hills where the illegal bullfights and gambling were being organized from time to time while Byndihati and Sokilo in East Jaintia Hills also witness the sport on a regular basis.
