Gogoi asks Bihar CM for free medical aid for train mishap victims

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday called up his Bihar counterpart Jitan Ram Manjhi requesting the latter to arrange for free medical treatment to the injured passengers of the New Delhi-Dibrugarh (Assam) Rajdhani Express which derailed at Chapra in Bihar in the wee hours on Wednesday, killing at least four passengers and injuring several.
Gogoi requested Manjhi to take all possible steps to provide free medical treatment to the injured passengers from Assam and to make arrangements to shift the stranded passengers to Guwahati.
Gogoi directed Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG, Western Assam) Surendra Kumar to immediately visit the accident site in Bihar where the Dibrugarh bound Rajdhani Express derailed.
The Chief Minister also asked the DIG to keep in touch with the Government of Assam for relief work at the accident site, Gogoi also requested the Central Government to raise the ex-gratia from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the dead.
The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the NFR has provided the following details on affected passengers:
List of Dead Passengers: Bharti Bedi, F-45 W/O Sanjiv Bedi, Add:- Firojpur/PUNJAB, Pawan Kumar Dhawan M-55, Neelam Dhawan F-42 W/O Pawan Kumar Dhawan, Shefali Dey F-65 W/O Anil Chandra Dey, Pilibhit.
List of Injured Passengers (grievous injury) :Jitendra Nath Verma (42), Vipul Shukla (51), Shivali Sharma (60), Mauli Dhawan (30), Ashisho Saikia (41), Rita Nath (32), Chameli Devi (50), Archana Beri (12), Tega Ram (60). They have been referred to PMCH / Patna
List of Injured Passengers (Simple injury): Ranjit (25), Ram Prasad(42) ,Badamu Devi(65), Saloni(nine months), Ahmad Raja(28), Mishant(16) Ram Dayal Singh (48),Manju Sindh (26), Jan Dil (29). They have been admitted at Chapra Sadar Hospital.
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has diverted several trains through different routes in view of derailment of Rajdhani Express. The diverted trains include Lalgarh – New Tinsukia Avadh Assam Express, Amritsar – Katihar Express, Katihar – Amritsar Express, Dibrugarh – Amritsar Express, New Tinsukia – Lalgarh Avadh Assam Express and New jalpaiguri – Amritsar Karmabhoomi Express.
