NONGPOH: The Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF), Byrnihat Circle on Thursday issued a month’s deadline to the state government to carry out the repair work of the Narbong-Byrnihat road which is in bad shape.

The decision to issue the deadline to the state government was taken by the Federation following a spot inspection of the Narbong-Byrnihat PWD road which has been in pathetic condition for the last two years much to the inconvenience of the commuters.

The federation also threatened to close the road if its demand is not fulfilled.

“The bad state of the road affected daily commuters, especially students who use the stretch regularly,” the RBYF observed.

“The State Government has earned huge revenue from the Narbong-Byrnihat road due to the presence of different factories in the area, but it had failed to take any initiative to maintain the road here,” the RBYF said while slamming the State Government for allegedly making false promises for the last two years as far as the repair of the road is concerned.
