NONGSTOIN: Over 350 village defence party (VDP) members took part in the VDP rally organized at Bishop Hall here by the West Khasi Hills police.
Addl. Superintendent of Police GD Kharwanlang was present on the occasion along with a host of other senior police officials and village elders among others.
Circle Inspector, Nongstoin D.Mawlein Circle Inspector Nongstoin took the participants through important issues like setting up of VDP in villages, VPS Act, issues concerning maintenance of peace and tranquility in the respective villages and the importance of knowing the laws like IPC, CrPC.
Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills, S Nongtnger used the rally to urge VDP members to mobilize support and inspire people to act against drug use.
