Deadline to Govt: RBYF gains support of FKJGP, Rangbah shnong

Repair of Narbong-Byrnihat PWD road

NONGPOH: After the RBYF, Byrnihat Circle served a one-month deadline to the State government for carrying road repairing and blacktopping of the Narbong-Byrnihat PWD road on Thursday, the stand of the RBYF got more momentum as the FKJGP, Byrnihat Circle and the Rangbah Shnong of 9 villages who are sole road users of the road extended their support to the demand of the RBYF.
It may be mentioned here that the RBYF Byrnihat circle on receiving numerous complaints from the road users of Narbong-Byrnihat PWD road which had been abandoned by the State government for more than two year back, conducted the spot inspection following which, a deadline was served.
The Rangbah Shnong of different villages who were the daily road users along with the Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia & Garo People (FKJGP), Byrnihat Circle after the thorough discussion had resolved to extend the support to the stand and the demand of the RBYF and also stressed on the need of road repairing and blacktopping of the said road at the earliest.
FKJGP president Lumlang Mawnai, while informing The Shillong Times on Friday, informed that, the Rangbah Shnong body and the FKJGP after the meeting held at Byrnihat had decided to support the RBYF on its demand but also urged the RBYF to reduced the timing of the deadline served to the state government from one month to two weeks time for carrying the road repairing.
“If the state government fails to take any initiative on the demand of the organization and the Headman to speed up the repair works for the Narbong-Byrnihat PWD road which has been in a very bad shape and pose a threat to the daily road users, especially the students and heavy vehicles plying trough the road, within two weeks time, we will be compelled to close and put No Entry Board on the road”, Mawnai added.
