Traveller’s nest inaugurated at Mawlyngot

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Minister for Cooperation, HDR Lyngdoh inaugurated the Urlong Tea IVCS Traveler’s Nest at Mawlyngot village on Thursday.
The project is being supported by the State Government under Rural Tourism project through the office of the Registrar of Co-operative, Meghalaya, Shillong.
In his speech as the chief guest, HDR Lyngdoh lauded the effort of the Urlong Tea I.V.C.S Ltd for taken the initiative in promoting Rural Tourism, adding that the surrounding area with beautiful serenity of lush green, picturesque valleys and organic tea factory which attract both domestic and international tourists.
While encouraging members of the Society and the people of Mawlyngot Village in general that setting up of this Traveler’s Nest in the village which is surrounded by small and beautiful hills and governed by tea cultivation will attract travelers and tourists to explore and experience the tea plantation, organic tea factory and to get the taste of everything which Mawlyngot Village has to offer.
He also said that the uniqueness of this place to attract tourist is also the existence of a unique species commonly known as Blue Worm which does not exist in any part of India.
