SHILLONG: A meeting to discuss the functionality of Ringrey Marketing Hub was held at the Office of West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi.

The Deputy Commissioner, while welcoming the heads from various line departments, said there were certain issues of construction, parking space, drainage, functioning and status of vegetable vendors and meat sellers in Ringrey Marketing Hub.

The District Urban Planner, West Garo Hills, informed that as regards the parking there is a provision of on-street parking for 16 vehicles besides space for 27 four-wheelers on the second floor.

The officer also informed that the idea of having parking space on the second floor is because parking berth on the ground floor would lead to traffic congestion because of the existing major road.

The parking space on the second floor would also segregate Tura Municipal Office from the marketing section.

She also said that the Tura Assamese LP School that is adjacent to the marketing hub would be re-located and the space utilized for auto rickshaw parking and for squatters.

To assess the structural stability of the building the Deputy Commissioner said that a committee headed by Executive Engineer, PWD Buildings, officials from District Disaster Management and other line departments would be formed.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of the Tura Municipal Board.
