Trader abducted from Kharkutta

TURA: Unidentified armed militants kidnapped a grocery store owner identified as Indra Narain Prasad of Kharkutta town in North Garo Hills district on Thursday evening .

The militants, believed to be less than a dozen in number, approached the home of Prasad and called him out before taking him away. Prasad was relaxing at home after a day’s work in the store when the incident occurred As news of the abduction spread, a posse of armed police personnel under the command of the Kharkutta outpost officer-in-charge gave chase in the direction that the kidnappers were last spotted moving to try and cut them off and rescue the victim. Till the filing of this report no breakthrough was achieved.

According to reports, Hanif Ali, the mastermind in the kidnapping of SBI official Arvind Kumar, last month is the nephew of Assam legislator Zaved Islam, who represents Mankachar Assembly constituency in Assam.
